MERIT Beauty: Solo Shadow Launch & Review

MERIT Beauty is a clean makeup brand sold at Sephora that recently launched their Solo Shadow collection and I had the opportunity to try it out. Feel free to use my referral link to purchase products directly from the website! Every first order comes with a free makeup bag that (see below).

I was sent the following three products -

  1. MERIT solo shadow - shade Brun (deep brown)

  2. Brush No. 2 - a brush that’s meant to pair with the MERIT solo shadow

  3. Clean Lash Lengthening Mascara

I’ll go into detail below of what I think of each product, including a link to the TikTok I made in case you’d like to see the products live action!

First glance

With every first order on the MERIT Beauty website, customers receive this free complimentary makeup bag, as well as free shipping over $40.

The makeup bag is corduroy material and is rather convenient — it’s the perfect size and once opened you’re very easily able to see all of your makeup products.

MERIT Beauty Solo Shadow Review, Sephora Clean Beauty, Makeup review

Initial thoughts on this shadow - it’s a cream formula that’s easily blend-able and buildable. A brush isn’t completely necessary, but if you decide to get a darker shade, it would be easier to pair the Brush No. 2 with it. According to the product description, this solo shadow has chamomile and calendula extract to help soothe the eye area, magnolia bark extract to help smooth the appearance of the skin, peptides to reduce the appearance of fine lines, and sunflower seed oil to nourish the skin.

The Solo Shadow comes in 8 shades -

  1. The Neutrals:

    1. Studio - cool taupe

    2. Vachetta - warm beige

    3. Midcentury - warm brown

    4. Brun - deep brown (my shade)

  2. The Statements:

    1. Social - soft mauve

    2. Viper - warm green

    3. Nelson - soft gray

    4. Midnight - classic navy

One coat of the MERIT Clean Lash Lengthening Mascara + one layer of the Solo Shadow

One common theme I’ve noticed about MERIT’s products is that they’re very buildable. One coat of mascara and one layer of the shadow was appropriate for daytime and if you have both products on hand, they’re pretty easy to layer if you’re on the go.

These are the types of products I’d keep in my purse/makeup bag if I were leaving work and headed straight to happy hour or an evening event. They’re easy, fuss-free, and perfect low-maintenance products.

My Final Thoughts -

Overall, these products layer exceptionally well, are easy to use, and perfect for the “on-the-go” consumer who is conscious of the ingredients in their cosmetics. To me, MERIT Beauty is perfect for a professional woman who wants a simplified, easy makeup routine that takes no longer than 5 minutes. It provides a mix of luxury, clean beauty, and a minimalist approach to makeup.
