Jacquemus’ Fall / Winter 2021 fashion show took place in Paris in a venue aimed to feel like a camping tent. The recently engaged French designer titled the collection “La Montagne,” wanted the set to be “minimal and sharp, recreating an abstract artistic mountain that portrays the inspiration of the collection.”

The color scheme of the collection was brighter than his usual universally neutral palette — including pops of fuchsia, tangerine orange, and bright cherry. This collection held true to its central theme — La Montagne (the mountains) — comprising of “sexy outdoor-wear.” The star-studded fashion show included Kendall Jenner, Adut Akech, Bella Hadid, Imaan Hamaam, among others. Some trends that’ll likely be prevalent next season (as seen in this Jacquemus collection as well as Marc Jacobs’ FW21 recent debut) will be structured shoulders, skin-bearing blouses, sweaters with cut-outs, and vibrant colors. Accessories from the Jacquemus FW21 included shearling-trimmed bags and shoes, suede messenger bags, and “hiking-esque” boots.

From an environmental perspective, Jacquemus is one of the designers who makes sustainability a focal point of his collections. In 2019, he announced that he’d revert to a co-ed fashion year, meaning he’d only unveil two collections a year while other brands continue with four. In his FW 2020-21 collection (yes, the show with Gigi Hadid’s iconic hair flip), he purposely ordered sustainable fabric from his manufacturer, launching the collection with only 10 fabrics rather than his usual 100. Wearable, timeless pieces are the future of his brand; commenting on his previous collection, the talented designer stated “this is not an art show. I am selling clothes, so it was going back to things that are minimal and effortless like a dress people can wear to a wedding and a few times afterwards.” Wearable, but still fashion was certainly seen in his FW21 collection.

Below includes some standout looks from the Jacquemus FW21 show.
